Common Passport Photo Questions & Answers

What type of paper should I use when printing my passport photo?: The passport photo must be printed in the quality paper such as matte or glossy finish.
Should my photo be in color?: Yes! All passport photo must be in color. It is important to know black and white photo would not be accepted.
How recent should my photo be?: When submitting your passport form your photo should be less than 6 months old, and show your current appearance.
What size requirement should my photo be?: All photo are required to be the following size 2 x 2 inches (51MM X 51MM).
Can I wear my eyeglasses when taking my photo?: Glasses that are worn on a daily basis could be worn on your photo, but you must ensure that the glasses do not have a reflection that is obstructing your eye view.
Can I wear my sunglasses on when I take my photo?: No! You cannot wear any sunglasses or eyeglasses with dark tint on your passport photo. If you need to wear prescription glasses with dark tint this would be accepted but you will have to show evidence such a medical certificate to verify prescription eyewear.
Can I wear a hat in my photo?: No! Hats are not allowed on any passport photo.
Can a parent be in a photo for a child?: No! Only the child should be in the photo.
My child’s eye is closed in the photo is this ok? No! Your child eye must be open and facing forward.
Can I take a photo with my digital camera?: Yes! You could take a photo with your digital camera.
