Do you require assistance in locating a Georgia passport office? You can apply for a passport at any post office, county clerk court, city hall, or other government-administered facilities. Bear in mind that some Georgia Passport offices require you to make an appointment in advance of your visit. Additionally, some passport offices operate on a varying schedule and may be closed on Federal Holidays. Passport applications are typically processed within 4-6 weeks of receipt. If you require a passport in a hurry, consult with an expeditor.

If you need a passport in less than four weeks, an expediting agency can help. The application process can be completed in as little as 2-3 weeks using this service. This service can provide you with an emergency passport in less than 24 hours if you require one. In this case, you’ll need to provide documentation to prove that you’re in an emergency. Please keep in mind that this service will incur a fee.

A passport agency can also help you get a passport for a child. The agency can assist you in renewing an expired passport and locating and replacing a lost or stolen passport. Call the National Passport Center hotline to contact your nearest agency at (877) 487-2778.

REAL ID Act

The REAL ID Act was signed into law in 2005 by the House of Representatives. The goal of this bill is for all states to have a uniform form of identification. The IDs, in particular, must all have the same information on them. Each ID must contain the following information:

  • Complete legal name
  • Address of residence
  • Date of birth
  • Gender Number on driver’s license or identification card
  • Front-facing digital photograph
  • Signature

While some states have already agreed to implement this new act, others remain divided. Recently, the new administration mandated that this law be implemented in all states by the end of 2017. Citizens without the new ID must, however, present a valid United States passport or permanent residency card as proof of identification. As a result, passengers without a valid passport or residency card will be denied boarding. Additionally, individuals will not be permitted to enter locations that require a valid ID.
