All US citizens must have a valid passport for travelling to Chile. If your visit to Chile is for business, conferences, relaxation, or tourism, you do not need to obtain a Chilean visa in advance of your arrival. The Chilean Immigration Department will issue you a Tourist Card, allowing you to stay for 90 days. If you require additional time beyond the 90 days, you may request for a stay extension, which will provide you an additional 90 days. This is subject to a cost. Payment should be made to the Chilean Immigration Office, San Antonio 580, Santiago. You may reach them at 56-2-2550-2469. When leaving Chile, you must return the Tourist Card to this office. If you do not do so, delays will occur in your departure timings.

If you overstay in Chile, you must pay a fine before leaving. This fine is payable at the Department of Extranjeria. When you do this, you must submit a complaint against yourself. You will not be able to pay this fine at the airport. If this fine is not paid promptly or as specified, the alternative process is long and may delay your departure by up to three weeks. If you intend to work, study, or live in Chile, you must apply for a visa ahead of time.

If you choose to visit a regional Passport agency, make sure you are aware of the requirements and schedule an appointment with the national Passport scheduling service by calling 1-877-487-2778. You can do so at any time of day or night. Security is strictly enforced in most Wyoming passport offices. Metal detection devices are used by federal agencies.

If you live in Gillette, Wyoming, for example, you can apply for a passport at the Campbell County District Court or the US Post Office – Gillette. Before visiting, you should call to see if an appointment is required. Check a neighboring town or city if you can’t find an acceptance facility where you live.

When applying for a passport in Wyoming, you have two options: regular passport services, which take 4 to 6 weeks, or expedited passport services, which can take 2 or 3 weeks.
