When visiting the Czech Republic for up to 90 days for business or pleasure, U.S. citizens do not need to obtain a visa. Travelers must have a passport that is valid for at least three months beyond the duration of their trip. When entering the country, travelers are also required to have a return airline ticket, proof of finances, and proof of medical insurance.

If you’re not sure if your trip qualifies for visa-free travel to the Czech Republic, contact the Consulate or Embassy before leaving. Additionally, travelers should be aware that certain countries bordering the Czech Republic may require passports to be valid for a minimum of six months. Visitors planning to visit these countries should verify their passport and visa requirements before departure.

Those planning to stay in the Czech Republic for more than 90 days, as well as those who will be working or studying there, will require a Czech Republic visa. To obtain a visa, travelers should complete and apply to the Czech Republic Embassy or Consulate nearest them at least three to four months before their scheduled departure. If a visa is required, travelers should not leave the country without it. Otherwise, they may be denied entry into the country, and the US Embassy will be powerless to intervene on their behalf.
