Is a trip to the Maldives something you’d like to do? In order to visit the Maldives, you will need to obtain a Maldives visa. As well, in addition to a Maldives visa, your passport must be valid to avoid any delays.

Visa Requirements for the Maldives
On arrival in the Maldives, you can apply for and obtain a Maldive visa. The visa is valid for one month. If necessary, the visa’s validity can be extended. You must provide proof of return transportation, proof of sufficient funds for the duration of your stay, and hotel reservations in the applicant’s name to obtain a visa upon arrival in the Maldives. For each day that you stay in the Maldives, it is recommended that you bring around $100 in cash.

Please note that your current passport must be required to ensure that there are enough blank pages to accommodate any stamps and stickers that are necessary upon arrival. At least two visa pages should be left blank, according to our recommendations. Additionally, keep your current passport’s validity in mind. Ask about specific restrictions for the validity of passports in the Maldives, some countries will need 6 months, and some fewer. After this, inquire about your flight whether a transit visa is required. In some cases, you may need to obtain a transit visa if you will be connecting flights.

NOTE: If you travel to the Maldives on a private boat, you will be given a visa that is free of charge and usually valid until the day of your departure. The US Passport Help Guide does not include any information on Maldives Embassies and Consulates.
