You do not need a visa to visit Germany for up to 90 days. No visa is required for U.S. citizens who are visiting Germany. While a visa is not required for travel to Germany, you must ensure that the following items are in order.

Check passport validity –All visitors to Germany must have a passport that is valid for at least 90 days beyond their departure date from the country. When departing a country, the ideal amount of validity time on your passport should be roughly six months.

Blank visa pages –Germany, like a large number of other countries, requires at least two blank visa pages in your passport book upon entry and exit. This will allow you to get any necessary stamps in your passport while you’re on the journey.

Transit Visa – When traveling to a country on a connecting flight, a transit visa may be required. Countries, where your flight makes a stay, may require a transit visa when connecting flights.

In the end, you will need to verify that your current passport contains enough blank pages to accommodate any stamps and stickers that may be required upon arrival. Additionally, keep in mind the remaining validity of your current passport. Lastly, check to see if a transit visa is required.

Under the Schengen Agreement’s guidelines, a United States passport valid for at least three months after departure from Germany is sufficient. This guideline must be followed for your trip to Germany to go as planned.
